Showcase Wood Flooring of Rockville Centre is a prestigious full service wood floor company owned and operated for 30 years by wood flooring expert James Chahalis. Our company services all of Nassau/Suffolk counties, New York City, and adjoining tri-state areas. We strive to provide each customer with a floor that will be aesthetically pleasing and durable. James continues to be personally involved, taking the hands on approach in every project.
James Chahalis Owner/Operator started his wood flooring career in the 80’s, 30 years ago, working for several flooring companies while learning all aspects of the flooring business including; sanding, staining, refinishing and installing. In the early 90’s he became dissatisfied with the way most wood flooring companies in the area ran their businesses. These companies scheduled three or more jobs every day by “banging them out”, leaving no time for quality work. Any inexperienced person could pick a name, rent an old obsolete sanding machine, buy inexpensive toxic chemicals, throw an ad in the Penny Saver and sell “cheap” floor jobs; it was about cutting your price under the “other guy” to get the job. Customers were calling daily, always screaming and complaining, and referrals were nonexistent. James, with his love of working with wood, as well as being a perfectionist at heart, dreamed of a new concept (or rather an old concept).
Showcase Wood Flooring was born! James with the help of his wife Cathy, who has several years of business experience, set out to separate themselves from the pack. James apprenticed under the best “old-world wood craftsman” and learned the art of wood floorings.
His approach has been to make each home a work of art and providing every customer unrivaled excellence!
Our Product
We offer the newest, state of the art, dustless machines and every kind of wood available, including exotic or one-of-a-kind woods flown in from any where in the world. In addition, we offer a variety of stains and finishes, as well as green, environmentally friendly finishes. We stay abreast of all current trends specializing in wide plank flooring, custom borders, as well as, reclaimed wood! We maintain, re-sand, stain and repair existing wood floors. In addition, we offer a complete design service in conjunction with installation and refinishing. James will also take you step-by-step through the process of selecting, purchasing, installing, finishing and maintaining your beautiful floors for a lifetime.
